Hi, I've been trying to update the featured article each month and I was considering on changing the featured video monthly as well. Does it matter which video is featured? I mean I should most definitely try to avoid spoilers as much as possible for newcomers. Could interesting cutscenes and/or gameplay videos be featured (like rare cutscenes that aren't major spoilers) rather than just trailers?
I've noticed that too. Her Japanese kanji name actually translates to Hayada. But this is an English language wiki, so I'll change it back to Ine Hayata, as many sources including the Shenmue Dojo and Shenmue Wiki on Neoseeker use that. I don't think her last name is said in the actual game, so I do not think we can verify it by the text (although there are so many rare dialogue being found to this day). The Shenmue Passport would list her full name as they do for every character, but that can only be accessed via the internet and the servers are long dead.
Thanks. By the way, I never played Shenmue II. Someone edited the orphaned kitten's article, saying that the kitten goes missing during the game (or perhaps they simply meant that the kitten is "missing" from the game, but the "Status" section is meant for alive/deceased, not for a lack of an appearance). Do you know anything about this?
As revealed in a free quest conversation with Megumi Mishima that the editor may have missed in their playthrough, is that Megumi's mother Fusayo Mishima allows her to keep the kitten at her house. That's why the kitten disappears from the shrine when Ryo works at the harbor.
Hi, long time no talk. Sorry for being absent so long! I just have to say good call on the Gender Status on the Yuan page. I was considering on doing this myself but never did! As of late, I've cleaned up some articles that needed some attention and added some redirect pages that should have been there before, like Lishao Tao for Xiuying Hong.
Welcome back! Managing the wiki has been easy since the series isn't that popular. And no need to be sorry, it's all volunteer work.
Just trying to help out the wiki with what I can. I only have vague memories of beating the first game a loooong time ago. I've never played the second (just done a ton of research on it), and am waiting for the first two games to be remastered, and for 3, of course.
Sorry for my long leave of absence. I'm back and am editing again. Is there any chance you could make the infobox images for Ine Hayata, Smith Bradley and Tony Abrams have transparent backgrounds? I think that would look better for the pages if that's possible.
Hey man, I'm back to editing on the wiki and fixing the infoboxes and all that.
I have a quick question, would it work if the featured videos are gameplay videos / cutscenes? Or is it better with it being promotional videos or trailers?
Personally, I feel both would be good because there are a lot of obscure scenes in the games that many people may not know about that I mentioned in the articles. And whenever a new trailer for Shenmue 3 comes out that could be a featured video too.
I think the character infoboxes should be updated to include spaces to list their D.O.B., Blood type, zodiac sign, height and weight, since this information is available for every Shenmue character.
I know that Ren Wu Ying is the Chinese style of his name and that would definitely be written as Wuying Ren westernized plus it's spelled like that in English Shenmue II.
However, the official English Shenmue III website now officially writes it as Ren Wuying. So now because of this being official and the fact that many sites spell it like that I wonder if the page's name should be changed to match how it's currently officially written. Plus the fans commonly know him as just Ren so the page would be easier to find written that way. What are your thoughts?
I believe I have renamed all the Shenmue II character pages to westernized style. And we agreed that the Shenmue I Chinese characters will stay in Chinese style because that's how it's officially written in the English text.
Also I was working on a collection datasheet for all the toy capsules in the games like this Shenmue/Collection Datasheets because I figured it was unnecessary to create a page for every toy like Akira 1, Akira 2, etc. it just seemed like spam. Then again they are items though and there's a page for every item. You think I should continue the datasheet or make a separate page for all the toys?
There are some Chinese characters that appear in Shenmue I, but are never mentioned or appear again in the series. They are listed in Chinese style in the subs and dialogue like Xia Xiu Yu and Wang Guang Ji. Should those stay in Chinese style since that's how their names are officially written in the English version?
"Gui Zhang" and "Chi You Men" are the traditional Chinese styles of the names. For a character, the surname comes first and the first name has spaces in between. This is used in the original Japanese versions of the games and all versions of Shenmue I.
"Guizhang" and "Chiyoumen" are the westernized American styles of the names where the surname comes last and there are no spaces. This is only used in the English versions of Shenmue II. Chiyoumean is a spelling error.
I've been sticking with the Chinese style since that is how it was originally meant to be and I'm trying to make all the information according to the original Japanese version like Yuan being referenced as a male and Cool Z being referred to as Cool J.
