Ryozo Yada (矢田 亮蔵 Yada Ryōzō) is the manager of the freight handling division of the Alpha Trading Office in the New Yokosuka Harbor District.
Biography[]
Yada recently transferred to the New Yokosuka Harbor, leaving his wife and children behind in Niigata. Whether it is out of loneliness or not, lately Yada is becoming increasingly ill-tempered towards his subordinates. Workers under him are afraid of him, but every Friday he is in a very good mood because that’s the day he goes back to see his family in Niigata for the weekend.
Shenmue[]
Mai Sawano helps Ryo Hazuki get a job at Alpha Trading Office and sets up an appointment for him to meet Yada. Once Ryo goes to the appointment, Yada has him start work right away. He has Mark Kimberly teach him how to use the forklift. Each day after work, Yada hands Ryo his paycheck. If he meets his quota, he'll get a raise and Yada will tell him to keep up the good work. Failing to reach his quota will have Yada tell him that he's got to meet it and doesn't give him a raise.
On Ryo's sixth day of work, after Yada hands Ryo his paycheck, he tells him that a young man in a suit came by and told him to give him a letter. The letter was from Guizhang Chen and it warns him that the Mad Angels are after him. When Ryo is about to start his seventh day of work, he heads to Alpha Trading Office, and Yada fires him. He tells him that it's due to him getting involved with the gangs at the harbor, and that the trouble was affecting his company.

Yada appears in Shenmue the Animation. In Episode 4, Mai helps Ryo get a job at Yada's company and he immediately hires him. He has Mark show him how to use the forklift. In Episode 5, after Guizhang decides to convince Master Chen to help Ryo go to Hong Kong, he quits his job.
Etymology[]
- The name Ryozo means "clear" (亮) (ryo) and "warehouse, cellar, magazine" (蔵) (zo).
- Ryozo's surname Yada means "arrow" (矢) (ya) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).

- Yada's zodiac sign is Taurus and he has a AB blood type.
