Hisaka Sawano (沢野ひさか Sawano Hisaka) is the first daughter of Kinuyo Sawano and the older sister of Mai Sawano. She is the manager of Hokuhoku Lunches at the New Yokosuka Harbor District.
Biography[]
Many of the workers line up to buy Hisaka’s lunches during lunch hour. Her neighbors, ranging from children to elderly people, adore her. After her father died, she helped her mother run Hokuhoku Lunches while she was still attending high school. Until the business started running smoothly, she had a lot of problems and was even hospitalized due to overwork. Her younger sister, Mai, has unfortunately become somewhat of a delinquent due to feeling neglected and lonely. She is still single, but has a lot of admirers in both the neighborhood and around the harbor.
Shenmue[]
When Ryo is looking for the Old Warehouse District and talks to Tom Johnson he will refer Ryo to Hisaka. When Ryo approaches Hokuhoku Lunches at the harbor after this, he will see Mai asking Hisaka to lend her some money. She refuses since she knows she would waste it, and Mai calls Hisaka a "prude" and storms off to hang with two sukeban girls Yumiko Minamino and Rena Isayama. Hisaka then reveals to Ryo that Mai has been hanging with a bad crowd and treating their family bad. She then asks Ryo to help her in talking to her, hoping he can straighten her out since she won't listen to her at all and he has known her since they were young. Ryo can accept or decline to help.
If he accepts, he will find Mai, Yumiko and Rena hanging out near the Mad Angels hideout. If Ryo wins the fight with the sukeban girls when they attack him, he talks some sense into Mai and reports to Hisaka that he's not sure how it went, but that it's her decision. He will then ask Hisaka about the Old Warehouse District, and she says that she has a delivery to take there. He helps her takes the lunches there, and she says that it's strange because there's only 10 security guards, but they always order 12 meals, which are for Master Chen and Guizhang Chen. If he declines to help Hisaka straighten out Mai, she will be understanding about it since she feels like there wasn't anything he could do anyway.
Shenmue III[]
Although Hisaka does not appear in Shenmue III, she is mentioned when Ryo calls Goro Mihashi at Hotel Niaowu and chooses the "Marriage" option. Goro will reveal that Hisaka approves of his and Mai's marriage and that she's all about it.
Etymology[]
- Hisaka's surname Sawano means "marsh" (沢) (sawa) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
