Takeshi Sera (Kanji: 世良 武士, Rōmaji: Sera Takeshi) is an Japanese thug who can speak fluent English and hangs around with the sailor gang that visit Dobuita at night to go drinking often taking part in their illegal actions.
Biography[]
Takeshi likes to hang with Tony Abrams and the rest of the gang and gets involved with the illegal actions at the New Yokosuka Harbor District. He is responsible for putting alot of contraband goods out onto the black market. The police are aware of him, but he has managed to avoid getting caught.
Shenmue[]

Ryo first meets Takeshi when he asks about sailors at Heartbeats bar. Takeshi puts his hand on his shoulder jokingly asking him if he is "some kind of TV detective", Ryo then throws his hand off his shoulder and tells him to back off. He then attempts to hit Ryo (and can hit him once if the first QTE is failed), but Ryo throws him over the counter knocking over everything on it, leaving him unconscious.
After this, Takeshi appears as one of the opponents in three of the many battles against the sailors and Mad Angels throughout Ryo's time in Yokosuka and his job at the New Yokosuka Harbor. Ultimately, he and his buddies are always defeated by Ryo.
Shenmue the Animation[]

Takeshi appears in Shenmue the Animation Episode 2. When Ryo enters the Heartbeats bar to find people of the Chinese underworld, Takeshi attempts to attack him, but is effortlessly defeated by Ryo. Takeshi's role in this scene is almost identical to how it is in the game.
Etymology[]
- The name Takeshi means "samurai, warrior" (武士).
- Takeshi's surname Sera means "world" (世) (se) and "good, virtuous, respectable" (良) (ra).
Trivia[]
Takeshi as the Bar Yokosuka bartender.
- As seen in the Japanese What's Shenmue? VHS tape and in some unused voice clips in Shenmue's files; Takeshi was originally going to be the bartender at Bar Yokosuka and Ryo could interact with him. In the final version of the game, Teruhiko Saijo was given the role instead.
- Takeshi's zodiac sign is Cancer and he has a AB blood type.
